Arthur L. Ford is professor emeritus of English and playwright-in-residence at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania, a small town on the edge of Amish country. Before retiring from the college in 2001, he taught a variety of literature and composition courses as a member and chairman of Lebanon Valley’s English Department, and he later served as the college’s dean of international programs.
Dr. Ford earned his bachelor’s degree from Lebanon Valley, and his master’s and PhD degrees from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. He has traveled extensively throughout his career and lived abroad for three-and-a-half years, including two years as a Fulbright professor—one year in Syria and one in China.
In addition to the usual publications associated with academia, he has published his own poetry and short fiction, as well as plays and libretti for operas. In 2007, Lebanon Valley College published his non-fiction book, Cinderella and the Seven Dwarfs: The Lebanon Valley College 1952–53 Basketball Team’s Improbable Run to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.
Dr. Ford lives in Annville with his wife, Mary Ellen. They have three grown children and six grandchildren. Shunned will be his first published novel.
